The French government has announced that the France’s second Mediterranean floating wind farm will be based in the Gulf of Fos, west of Marseille. The 250MW project will consists of between 10 and 20 wind turbines and will be located 22km from the coast.
The project will be augmented in the future by a 500 MW addition within the same area. The government will submit a call for bids to a group of pre-selected contenders, and the winner will be announced in spring 2024. The floating wind farm is scheduled to be operational in 2031.
