New York Transco has submitted Energy Link NY proposals to the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) to deliver energy from future offshore wind facilities to New York City.
Developed in response to NYISO's NYC Offshore Wind Public Policy Transmission Need Project Solicitation, the project includes underground and submarine transmission components. Energy Link NY aims to:
- Accelerate clean energy transition, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality.
- Increase energy delivery to power over 4.5 million homes.
- Enhance reliability with new transmission paths.
- Improve resiliency with modern infrastructure.
- Create clean energy and construction jobs.
NYISO's solicitation seeks transmission proposals for a minimum of 4,770 MW of offshore wind generation by January 31, 2033, aligning with the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act's goal of 9,000 MW by 2035. New York Transco plans extensive community engagement and is also advancing other clean energy transmission projects statewide.
