Huisman has signed a contract with Dong Fang Offshore for the delivery of a modular 30mt cable-lay system. Designed for flexibility, the system will be used across various vessel types, including Dong Fang Offshore’s new Construction Service Operation Vessels and Offshore Construction Vessels, built by Vard.
The system supports both inter-array and export cable-laying, as well as cable repair operations. It will be delivered as a single, integrated spread with quick connection interfaces, enabling fast mobilisation in different configurations based on vessel type and operational requirements.
Huisman is collaborating with cable-lay operations specialist ESD, combining ESD’s operational expertise with Huisman’s offshore equipment design and manufacturing experience. The partnership began in 2023.
The system features dual 15mt tensioners, a 50mt abandonment and recovery winch, a minimum bending radius of 5 metres, and is suitable for cables ranging from 50mm to 500mm. An integrated quadrant handling system eliminates the need for crane use during cable deployment.
