Jera, Electric Power Development (J-Power), Tohoku Electric Power (Tohoku), and Itochu Corporation (Itochu) have applied to operate an offshore wind power project in Akita Prefecture, Japan.
The consortium led by Jera has been selected as the business operator for the 315MW project by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT). The project is located off Oga City, Katagami City, and Akita City. This selection was made under the Act on Promoting the Utilization of Sea Areas for the Development of Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities. The offshore wind farm will utilise 21 Vestas V236-15MW wind turbines and is expected to be commercially operational by June 2028.
