GDF SUEZ and EDP Renewables have signed an agreement to participate jointly in the next public tender for offshore wind projects in France, whose final purpose is the development and installation of a total of 1,000MW in French waters – 500MW in Le Tréport (Haute-Normandie) and 500MW close to the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier (Pays-de-la-Loire).
The consortium has signed on an industrial partnership with AREVA as regards the design and the construction of offshore wind turbines. The offers will be assessed by the French State according to technical, financial, industrial, social and environmental criteria. The tenders will be submitted to the French Regulatory Commission of Energy by November 29. A governmental decision is expected in 2014.
