Natural Power has been awarded with the Ground Investigation contracts for the 75MW Mid Hill I and 40MW Rothes II wind farms by Fred.Olsen Renewables. Mid Hill wind farm is located in Fetteresso Forest, Nr Stonehavan, Aberdeenshire and will comprise of 25 turbines with construction expected to begin late 2011. Rothes II, Moray, will consist of 18 turbines.
Natural Power will be deploying the company’s all-terrain drilling platform as part of the multi-phased ground investigation. The Geotechnical team comprises experienced drilling crews, on-site geologists and geotechnical engineers capable of delivering site investigation to the latest Eurocode 7 standards - the latest guidelines for geotechnical design. Both investigations will commence imminently, and are due for completion by December this year. Further stages of trial pitting and in-situ testing will be used to establish ground conditions for proposed tracks, crane pads and borrow pits.
