Ørsted has awarded a contract for the supply of ultra-high voltage power equipment for the Hornsea 4 offshore wind farm to Hyosung Heavy Industries (South Korea).
Hyosung Heavy Industries will supply, install, and commission 400 kV transformers and reactors for both offshore and onshore substations for the offshore wind farm. Ørsted expects to make the final investment decision within 18 months; until then, this contract is not final. If Ørsted proceeds with the project, the offshore wind farm is scheduled for commissioning in 2030. Hornsea 4 offshore wind farm will be located approximately 69 km off the Yorkshire coast in the North Sea and will feature 180 wind turbines with a total capacity of 2.6 GW.
