Salamander, a joint venture between Ørsted, Simply Blue Group, and Subsea7, has concluded its metocean data monitoring campaign for the proposed floating offshore wind farm off the north-east coast of Scotland. The project team retrieved floating LiDAR and wave buoy equipment after conducting the survey, which began in October 2023.
The campaign deployed two Seawatch Wind LiDAR buoys and a Wavescan buoy to collect vital meteorological, oceanographic, and environmental data. Measurements included wind speed, wave height, current speed, and other region-specific parameters. These insights will guide the design, operations, and maintenance strategy of the project. The Salamander floating wind farm will be located approximately 35 km off the coast of Peterhead, Scotland.
