Sowitec has been awarded 20 year energy supply contracts for three wind projects for an overall capacity of 73MW within the latest energy auctions, held in December 2013 in Brazil.
Through the national A-5 New Energy auction, carried out on December 13th, the company has been awarded the right to enter into 20-year energy supply contracts with the Brazilian Chamber of Commercialization of Electric Energy (CCEE) with power produced by the three wind projects with a combined capacity of 72 MW. The projects Ventos da Bahia II, Ventos da Bahia IV and Ventos da Bahia VIII are located in the municipality of Mulungu do Morro, in the state of Bahia, in north-eastern Brazil. The wind turbines are expected to start operation latest by January, 1st, 2018 and they are part of an 800MW wind farm cluster, which Sowitec is developing in the region.
