The Swedish Government has rejected the permit application for Hexicon’s Mareld floating offshore wind farm, planned off the coast of Västra Götaland. The decision is final and cannot be appealed. Hexicon is reviewing the decision and evaluating possible next steps.
Mareld was planned approximately 40 kilometres west of Orust, within Sweden’s exclusive economic zone. If developed, the floating wind farm was expected to generate up to 12 TWh of renewable electricity annually.
