OWC has been awarded a two-year master services agreement (MSA) by Taisei Corporation to provide support for the development of a floating wind project in Japanese waters. Taisei, recently selected for the development project by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO), has been working on a full concrete compact semi-submersible floater.
Taisei recognises the various challenges associated with developing concrete floaters, including engineering, manufacturing methods, loading out, and operation and maintenance, which OWC will support under the master services agreement on a request basis.
