Jera and bp have finalised the formation of Jera Nex bp, a 50:50 offshore wind joint venture. The company will develop, own and operate offshore wind projects globally. Jera Nex bp’s portfolio includes approximately 1 GW of installed net generating capacity, 7.5 GW of projects in development, and an additional 4.5 GW in secured lease areas—totalling a potential net capacity of 13 GW.
The company will prioritise development of selected projects from its existing pipeline and continue operating assets in Europe and Asia As part of the transaction, Jera Nex bp Japan has been established to oversee projects in Japan. Masato Yamada, formerly a Managing Executive Officer at Jera, has been appointed CEO of the Japan entity and will report to the CEO of Jera Nex bp. Jera Nex bp will be headquartered in London. Nathalie Oosterlinck has been named CEO.
