The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) has appointed a new executive leadership team as it moves into its next phase of developing clean energy projects. Matthew Finn has been named Managing Director after 19 years at EMEC, including five years as Commercial Director. He has experience in securing project funding and building collaborations across the renewable energy sector, contributing to work in wave and tidal energy, offshore wind, hydrogen, alternative fuels, and island decarbonisation.
Mark Hamilton joins as Operations and Technology Director, bringing experience in the tidal energy sector. He previously spent eight years at Orbital Marine Power, where he helped develop floating tidal turbine technology as Chief Technology Officer and later led strategy and commercial development as Managing Director. He also founded Solo Energy, a virtual power plant software start-up, which was later acquired by SMS Energy, where he managed its flexibility business unit for five years.
Donna Ritch remains Finance Director, overseeing financial management, human resources, IT, and support services. Eileen Linklater, who was promoted last year to Corporate Affairs Director, brings experience in stakeholder engagement, legal affairs, and communications.
Neil Kermode, who has led EMEC for 20 years, is stepping down as Managing Director but will continue to work with the organisation in a strategic role.
