Vestas has announced plans to establish a new assembly factory in Szczecin, Poland, near the Baltic Sea. The factory will assemble nacelles and hubs for Vestas’ V236-15.0 MW, offshore wind turbine.
The new factory is expected to start operating in the second half of 2024 and will create between 600 and 700 direct jobs. It will support domestic and global demand. This factory announcement comes in the wake of Vestas being awarded preferred supplier status with Baltic Power, a joint venture between PKN Orlen and Northland Power, to supply turbines for the 1.2 GW Baltic Power Offshore Wind Project in Poland.
