Enercon has presented its first electric truck for long-distance use. The 40-tonne Volvo FH Electric will operate between the Aurich plant and nearby logistics hubs. It has a range of about 300 kilometres and will use a 400 kW charging point located on the site.
The plan is for the vehicle to be charged with wind energy at the end of each working day. With a charging capacity of 250 kWh, reaching 80 per cent charge takes about one hour. If powered solely by renewable electricity, each truck is expected to avoid more than 40 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
