Buss Terminal Eemshaven, in collaboration with Groningen Seaports, has launched the WINdQUAY project to enhance heavy-duty quay capacities at Eemshaven’s Buss Terminal. Co-funded by the European Union through the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, the project aims to expand the terminal’s infrastructure to support the growing offshore wind sector in the North Sea.
The project will increase the load-bearing capacity of sections of the existing quay area, providing greater flexibility for handling heavy-duty offshore wind installation vessels at the offshore wind terminal. Soil conditions will also be improved to support wind turbine components and installation vessels during load-ins and load-outs. Once completed, the quay area will have a load-bearing capacity of 40 tonnes per square metre.
