Great Lakes Dredge & Dock has launched the vessel Acadia at Hanwha Philly Shipyard. Acadia is a United States‑flagged, Jones Act‑compliant subsea rock installation vessel. The vessel is designed to transport and place up to 20,000 metric tonnes of rock on the seabed to provide scour protection for subsea cables, pipelines, offshore wind turbine foundations and other subsea structures.
This protection helps prevent erosion from waves and currents and reduces risks from equipment and vessel impacts. While Acadia will support the domestic offshore energy market, Great Lakes also plans to deploy the vessel internationally for offshore energy developments.
