Chris Bowen MP, Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy, has announced the next two rounds of consultation for offshore wind zones in the country. The announcement means Australia has progressed all six of its consultations within twelve months.
The first two zones Australia declared are Gippsland and Hunter, and the country has already begun consultation on the next two zones: Illawarra and the Southern Ocean region. Now the country has announced the next steps for the Bass Strait region off the Tasmanian Coast and, secondly, the Perth/Bunbury region off the coast of Western Australia. Consultation for the Bass Strait region will start at the beginning of October, and consultation for the Perth/Bunbury region will begin in November.
