Shona Robison MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, has announced in the draft Scottish Budget for 2025/26 that the Scottish Government will nearly triple its investment in offshore wind to £150 million next year. This increase underscores the government's commitment to investing up to £500 million over five years in the offshore wind sector.

The enhanced funding from the Net Zero and Energy portfolio will support the development of renewable energy, address climate change, and protect and restore nature. The capital funding of £150 million aims to accelerate investment in the offshore wind sector, highlighting the government’s dedication to this renewable energy source.

As part of the initiative, a Scottish Government hub for offshore wind will be established in the North-East, offering an additional route for industry engagement with government teams. To support the recently published Green Industrial Strategy, over £25 million will be allocated to aid the energy transition, creating jobs across the supply chain.

The Cabinet Secretary highlighted that this investment will help leverage £1.5 billion in private investment for infrastructure and manufacturing facilities essential to the growth of the offshore wind sector. This move emphasises the Scottish Government's long-term commitment to renewable energy and economic development.
