Arcadis has launched its noise forecast application, noiseforecast.app, for international use. The application is intended to support communication and noise management for wind projects. It is available in Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish, with additional languages planned.
Since its introduction in the Netherlands in 2017, noiseforecast.app has been applied to more than 100 wind turbines and over 17,000 homes. It is now being made available for wider international deployment.
The application provides location-specific forecasts of wind turbine noise and shadow flicker. It uses weather data, turbine specifications and environmental conditions to generate 48-hour forecasts, helping users anticipate periods of increased noise or shadow flicker. It also includes information on energy production and avoided carbon dioxide emissions.
An integrated feedback function allows residents to share experiences anonymously using a simple scale. This information is linked to environmental and operational data, enabling operators to identify patterns of disturbance and respond with targeted measures.
