IQIP has completed a full-scale offshore monopile installation using its EQ Piling technology, achieving Technology Readiness Level 9 and confirming the system is ready for commercial deployment.
The monopile was installed to the target depth using EQ Piling, followed by reference piling under similar conditions with an impact hammer from IQIP. The installation campaign was carried out by a joint IQIP and Deme team aboard Deme’s offshore installation vessel Orion, with consortium partners EnBW and Vattenfall involved in the project.
A measurement campaign using sensors, geophones, hydrophones and accelerometers was conducted to assess underwater noise levels and system performance.
EQ Piling uses a controlled force generated by a seawater-filled tank, extending impact duration compared with conventional piling methods. The technology is designed to reduce underwater noise and pile fatigue while maintaining the force needed to install large monopiles offshore.
