vitruvian class jackup vessel offshore wind 1 768x432Deltamarin and Offshoretronic have announced a new jack-up vessel platform designed for next-generation offshore wind projects. The collaboration is aimed at the expected development of the offshore wind sector as 20–30 MW wind turbines are anticipated to enter commercial service by 2030.

These turbines are expected to be deployed in water depths of 30–60 metres, requiring larger monopile foundations measuring 100–130 metres in length and 12–16 metres in outer diameter, with weights of up to 5,000 tonnes.

The monopile installation vessel (MPIV) is designed to handle monopiles weighing more than 3,000 tonnes. The vessel will be 179 metres long with a beam of 75 metres.

Deltamarin and Offshoretronic also plan to introduce a wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) variant of the Vitruvian platform. It will be designed to handle components for 20–30 MW wind turbines, including towers, nacelles and blades. The components will be stored along the vessel's longitudinal axis.
