Enercon is introducing a high-wind version of its E-138 EP3 turbine, designed to replace the E-82 EP2 E4 and expand its portfolio for strong wind sites. The new variant retains the hardware design of the standard E-138 EP3, which has a 138-metre rotor diameter and 4.26 MW rated output.
The adaptation includes load-optimised operating modes, an enhanced service strategy, and more robust cast components to manage higher wind conditions. These measures help reduce operational strain while maintaining efficiency. Additionally, an improved power curve for all E-138 EP3 types is expected to increase annual energy yield by approximately 1.5%.
The high-wind variant will be installed in the UK as part of a pilot project in early 2026, with further deployments planned across Europe and Asia-Pacific
