MingYang Smart Energy has officially launched the MySE 18.X-20MW offshore wind turbine at its Shanwei manufacturing base in China. The turbine features a modular design and has evolved from its previous 14- to 16-MW platforms.
The turbine offers flexible power ratings ranging from 18.X to 20 MW, rotor diametres spanning from 260 to 292 metres, and a maximum swept area equivalent to nine soccer fields. The turbine is expected to be able to generate an annual generation capacity of 80 million kWh. The turbine is specifically designed for deployment in medium-to-high wind speed regions, with a particular focus on typhoon-prone sites. Equipped with active anti-typhoon technology, the turbine can withstand Category 17 typhoons (56.1-61.2 m/s). Key components, including blades, gearboxes, generators, pitch systems, large castings, and control systems, will all be manufactured in China.
