As part of the European REFRESH project, CETMA and Gjenkraft have produced a wind turbine blade section partly made from recycled materials recovered from end-of-life blades. The section was manufactured by ÉireComposites in Ireland and incorporates a non-woven mat made from pyrolysed glass fibres recovered through Gjenkraft’s process in Høyanger, Norway.
The REFRESH project, funded by the EU Horizon Europe programme, brings together eleven partners to develop and demonstrate new methods for recycling and reusing composite materials from wind turbine blades. Gjenkraft’s contribution focuses on its technology, which allows almost complete recovery of blade materials, including glass and carbon fibres, oil, and gas.
