Acciona Windpower has won a turbine supply and maintenance contract with the Prince Edward Island Energy Corporation for the government-owned agency's planned 30MW wind farm.
The turbine manufacturer will deliver ten of its AW3000 3MW units, marking the first Canadian installation of the turbine model. The project, located near Hermanville on the north-eastern shore of the Atlantic province, is expected to be operational by the end of 2013.
