Allete Clean Energy has fully contracted the output of its Armenia Mountain Wind site for the next seven years through agreements with two customers.
A recently signed agreement for 50% of the site’s output is with Smartest Energy US, an energy retail partner and wholesale commodity trader providing energy solutions to United States businesses.
The second customer is Old Dominion Electric Cooperative, a Virginia-based generation and transmission cooperative that serves 11 member cooperatives in Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. Old Dominion, one of Armenia Mountain’s original energy customers from its 2009 launch, has chosen to recontract with Allete Clean Energy.
The company acquired the 100.5 MW Armenia Mountain Wind site, near Troy, Pennsylvania, in 2015. Located in the PJM electricity market near the New York-Pennsylvania border, the wind farm features 67 General Electric turbines installed in 2009.
