The Maryland Department of the Environment’s Air and Radiation Administration (ARA) has issued a final Permit to Construct, along with Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) and New Source Review (NSR) approvals, for US Wind’s planned offshore wind project. The authorisation, including all associated conditions and emissions limits, will take effect from 6 June 2025.
The Maryland Offshore Wind Project is to be located approximately 10 nautical miles off the coast of Worcester County, Maryland, on the outer continental shelf. The proposed development includes up to 121 wind turbines, up to four offshore substations, and one meteorological tower. US Wind submitted its air quality permit application electronically on 30 November 2023, with hard copies received by ARA on 7 December 2023.
