Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm has concluded three years of development work and submitted applications for planning consent to the Scottish Government’s Marine Directorate for 2000MW generation capacity in the outer Moray Firth. Caledonia, developed by Ocean Winds, was awarded the site in 2022 as part of the Scottish Government’s ScotWind process.
Caledonia covers an area of 423 square kilometres and is located in water depths ranging from 40 to 100 metres. The project will feature up to 140 turbines, each with a maximum capacity of 25 MW and a height of up to 355 metres.
The development includes up to four offshore substation platforms and has a total generation capacity of 2000 MW. This capacity may be delivered in two phases: Caledonia North and Caledonia South, each with a capacity of 900 to 1100 MW.
The project also involves four offshore export cables, with a landfall location at Stake Ness on the Aberdeenshire coast.
