The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has completed its sixth offshore wind lease sale, marking the first commercial sale for floating offshore wind along the Atlantic Coast. The sale, held in the Gulf of Maine, resulted in over $21.9 million in winning bids and two provisional winners across four lease areas.

Avangrid Renewables emerged victorious with two leases: Lease OCS-564, which encompasses 98,565 acres and was won for $4,928,250, and Lease OCS-568, covering 124,897 acres for $6,244,850. Both areas are situated approximately 29.5 nautical miles from Massachusetts.

Invenergy NE Offshore Wind, a subsidiary of Invenergy, also secured two leases: Lease OCS-562, spanning 97,854 acres at a bid of $4,892,700, located about 46.2 nautical miles from Maine; and Lease OCS-567, which covers 117,780 acres for $5,889,000 and is approximately 21.6 nautical miles from Massachusetts.
