Buchan Offshore Wind, a 1GW floating offshore wind project located 75km northeast of Fraserburgh, has completed its metocean and LiDAR (light detection and ranging) surveys. Survey company Partrac recently recovered the project’s LiDAR and seabed instrumentation.
The two-year metocean and Floating LiDAR campaign gathered essential data for the project's environmental impact assessment (EIA) and detailed design work. The Floating LiDAR, deployed in November 2022, was supplied by Eolos, with BrightWind providing third-party quality assurance. The project team will now finalise the collected datasets, which will be a key input for the next stage of engineering design.
