North Star has signed agreements with RWE to supply four hybrid-powered commissioning and service operation vessels (CSOVs) to support the company’s offshore wind farm activities. The agreement includes two firm long-term charter contracts and two reservation agreements for newbuild vessels.
The two hybrid CSOVs already in operation—Grampian Eagle and Grampian Kestrel—will support RWE’s operations in the UK and German sectors of the North Sea.
Grampian Eagle will be deployed at the Triton Knoll wind farm off the British coast for a minimum of 12 years, beginning in summer 2026. Grampian Kestrel will support wind farms north of Heligoland for a minimum of 10 years, starting in winter 2025–26. Both charters include optional extensions of up to three years.
While the North Star vessels are being prepared, two interim vessels from Windward Offshore will provide support.
RWE has also signed a reservation agreement with North Star for two additional SOVs to be built by shipbuilder Vard. Delivery is expected in 2028 and 2029.
