With the first steel cut, representatives of TenneT and the joint venture Equans- Iemants (subsidiary of steel construction company Smulders) officially marked the start of steel production for the topside Hollandse Kust (west Beta).
The pieces of steel cut at Equans' yard in Hoboken are the first elements for the socket that TenneT is having built for the offshore wind farm of the same name. In 2021, TenneT signed the contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, offshore installation, connection and testing of the offshore transformer station for wind farm Hollandse Kust (west Beta). The engineering work for the platform of (west Beta) started early this year. The topside assembly will start in spring 2023 at Equans' yard in Hoboken. Completion, commissioning and testing will take place from the second half of 2023 to early 2025. The installation of the jacket at sea will take place in the first half of 2024 and in 2025 they will put the topside on top of it. The offshore substation for Hollandse Kust (west Beta) is expected to be fully commissioned offshore in the third quarter of 2025.
