PGE Group and Ørsted signed a contract with DNV for certification of components of the offshore wind farm. This year, DNV was officially authorised by the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure to certify offshore wind farms.
The scope of work for DNV on Baltica 2 includes providing a design compliance certificate confirming the compliance of the technical designs with international standards for the design of offshore wind farms and their consistency with the construction design and applicable regulations. These are necessary documents required by the provisions specified in the Maritime Safety Act and the so-called Offshore Act. The certification applies to wind turbine generators, offshore substations, foundations, as well as inter-array and export cables. Baltica 2 is one of two stages of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm – next to Baltica 3. Ørsted and PGE plan to deliver Baltica 2 of 1.5 GW capacity by the end of 2027 and Baltica 3 of 1 GW capacity by 2029. The project is subject to final investment decision.
