Offshore construction has commenced on ScottishPower’s East Anglia Three offshore wind farm with the successful installation of the first monopile foundation. The structure was installed using the Seaway Ventus jack-up vessel and marks the start of foundation work for the 1.4GW project.
The monopile was supplied by the Joint Venture Navantia Seanergies Windar Renovables (JVNW), which is responsible for fabricating 45 of the 95 foundations required for the site. The remaining 50 foundations are being manufactured by Haizea. Each monopile will range from 67 to 85 metres in length, up to 10.6 metres in diameter, and weigh between 1,200 and 1,800 tonnes. The foundations will support 95 Siemens Gamesa 14.7MW turbines. Once fully installed, the wind farm is expected to generate 1,400MW of electricity. Turbine installation is scheduled for completion by early 2026.
