Gurit has won a contract to supply PET structural core materials for wind energy applications in China. Starting in 2011, the two-year contract is worth a medium single-digit CHF million amount.
Gurit is currently installing a PET extruder in Tianjin, PR China, in order to manufacture a standard range as well as kitted PET structural core material for the Chinese Wind Energy market locally in China. PET is widely regarded as a future key core material for wind energy applications. Produced in a continuous extrusion process, PET is not only very cost effective but also offers convincing physical properties for Wind Energy applications. This thermoplastic material is recyclable and can be reused in the process.
