Iberdrola, through its subsidiary Ailes Marines, has announced the full commissioning of the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France.
As of 28 May 2024, all wind turbines are operational, with a total capacity of 496 MW. The entire production from the 62 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines is now feeding into the national electricity grid, managed by RTE. Located off the coast of Brittany, the park's production is around 1,820 GWh per year.
The total investment in the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm, which began development in April 2012, amounts to €2.4 billion, fully financed by Iberdrola. The jacket foundation components were partly built and assembled on the Brest polder by Navantia Windar. The electrical equipment for the masts of the 62 wind turbines was assembled by Haizea Breizh, also on the Brest polder. The turbines were manufactured in France at the new Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy site in the port of Le Havre.
