Ocean Winds has installed the first wind turbine at the Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN) offshore wind farm. A total of 61 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines will be installed between May and September 2025.
The bottom-fixed wind farm is located off the coast of the Yeu and Noirmoutier islands in France and is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to meet the annual consumption of nearly 800,000 people. Turbine towers were pre-assembled at the Port of Saint-Nazaire, with offshore installation carried out by Jan De Nul. Over the course of construction, more than 1,500 direct and indirect jobs have been created, including around 1,000 at Siemens Gamesa’s Le Havre facilities for nacelle and blade production. Once operational, the project will support 85 long-term jobs, including around 60 on the island of Yeu for operations and maintenance.
