Iberdrola Germany and Schwenk Zement have entered into a long-term agreement for the supply of green electricity. Under the agreement, 1,500 GWh will be supplied to Schwenk from the Windanker offshore wind farm, currently under construction in the Baltic Sea. This will enable Schwenk to cover around 20% of its electricity needs with certified alternative sources, based on current demand.
The companies have agreed on a fixed price, ensuring long-term planning security for both parties. The Windanker offshore wind farm will feature 21 turbines, each with a 15 MW capacity, and is expected to be connected to the grid in 2026 with a total connection capacity of 300 MW. Located approximately 38 km northeast of the German island of Rügen, the wind farm will span an area of around 17.9 km².
