SSE’s Chaintrix-Bierges and Vélye Wind Farm in northeast France is now fully operational following the completion of the 28MW onshore wind project. This is the first operational onshore wind asset delivered by SSE in mainland Europe.
The wind farm, located in the communes of Chaintrix-Bierges and Vélye in the Marne department of the Grand-Est region, is now generating renewable energy from all eight Siemens Gamesa SG 3.4-132 turbines. Construction began in late 2023 and was carried out by lead contractor Omexom in partnership with local civil engineering firm Pothelet.
