Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to promote public-private cooperation in offshore wind development. The initiative focuses on building domestic supply chains to support the country’s growing renewable energy sector.
As part of the agreement, Siemens Gamesa has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japanese electronics firm TDK, which will supply permanent magnets for use in wind turbines. This partnership follows a similar agreement earlier this month between METI and GE Vernova.
