Van Oord’s heavy lift installation vessel, Svanen, has installed the first monopile at the Baltic Power offshore wind farm, located 23 kilometres north of the Polish coast. The wind farm will feature wind turbines with a generating capacity of 15MW each.
Developers Orlen and Northland Power have contracted Van Oord for the transport and installation of 78 foundations, each consisting of a monopile and a transition piece. The Baltic Power offshore wind farm will have a total capacity of up to 1.2GW and is expected to be completed in 2026.
