The Renewable Energy Wildlife Institute (REWI), an independent nonprofit addressing renewable energy, wildlife, and natural resource challenges through science and collaboration, has announced the appointment of Dr. Troy Hartley as its new Executive Director.
Dr. Hartley succeeds Abby Arnold, who departs after more than 15 years leading REWI and over 30 years of dedicated work on renewables and wildlife. He will be supported by REWI’s experienced team, including Director of Research and Programmes Dr. Eric Schauber and Director of Operations Lauren Flinn, who has been with the organisation for over a decade.
Dr. Hartley brings extensive experience in leading science-focused organisations and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. During his 16 years as Director of the Virginia Sea Grant programme, he led strategic planning, programme development, and research initiatives to support sustainability and resilience. He has also built cross-sector partnerships, secured funding to expand programming, and led multi-sector coalitions.
