EDP has reached 15 GW in long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) worldwide. The leading sectors in EDP’s global PPAs include power and utilities, data centres, wholesale and retail, electricity, gas, steam, and manufacturing. The contracted agreements will generate approximately 41.5 TWh of renewable electricity from EDP’s utility-scale projects.
In 2024, EDP signed PPAs with 15 clients, marking a 15% increase in capacity compared to 2023. The company maintains a diverse technology mix, with solar and wind assets as the main contributors. Agreements for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) also played a significant role in this year’s contracts.
These PPAs span EDP’s four global regions—Europe, North America, South America, and Asia Pacific—covering a range of industries. However, demand from big technology companies to power data centres accounted for 45% of EDP’s contracts in 2024.
