Clipper Windpower, the wind turbine manufacturer planning to build the world's biggest windmill in North-East England, has unveiled massive losses and replaced its pioneering chief executive. Jim Dehlsen, a founding father of wind-energy technology, will move up to chairman of AIM-listed Clipper to make way for Doug Pertz, a manager recruited to the group by one of its biggest shareholders. Losses more than doubled to US$ 211million (£114 million) in the first half from $78million a year ago as Clipper was hit by a US$ 145million charge for fixing duff blades and gearboxes it had supplied.
