On-line Wear Debris Analysis
Macom Technologies is a Scottish electronics engineering company established in September 1999 following a requirement by its owners, who were involved in the oil and gas industry, for a device to detect and measure wear debris on-line. After searching and finding nothing suitable, the company came across a new technology being developed by Edinburgh University. The sensor being developed had a unique patented screening technique which eliminates the false detection of air and water bubbles as metallic particles, thus giving a far more accurate trend of the machinery condition. Having identified the need for on-line wear debris sensors to compliment the ‘norm’, which was vibration analysis, along with off-line lab testing of oil samples, Macom was formed and was assigned the patented technology.

Global Specialist for Pitch Systems
LUST is a young, innovative company that has been active in the development of the wind energy market from the outset. The first leading manufacturers of wind turbines were already relying on LUST’s expertise in 1996. In the years since then, the individual drive elements have been continually further developed, with the component supplier becoming a system supplier for pitch systems. As early as 1998, LUST supplied drives with synchronous motors for wind turbines up to 600kW. In February 2000, what was at the time the world’s largest series wind turbine (2.5MW) was equipped by LUST. And both of the world’s largest series wind turbines (5MW), which came on-line during 2005, are fitted with LUST pitch systems.
