EastWind Offshore Wind Cluster (OWIC) has launched a T Level Engineering Experience Programme to help develop the next generation of talent for the UK's offshore wind sector. The four-week pilot programme, supported by RWE as the 2026 funding partner, is taking place at the Orbis Energy Centre in Lowestoft. Ten students from East Norfolk Sixth Form College, UTCN and East Coast College have been selected to participate, gaining practical experience of engineering project delivery in an industry environment.
During the programme, students will complete either a mechanical or electrical engineering project, taking responsibility for planning, delivery and performance against a structured framework of project milestones, key performance indicators and industry-standard checklists. The projects are designed to develop both technical and professional skills while encouraging participants to manage their work independently.
The programme also includes site visits, presentations, workshops and mentoring sessions delivered by organisations across the offshore wind supply chain, providing students with a broader understanding of the sector.
EastWind is the regional offshore wind cluster for the East of England. Established in 2021 to support the Offshore Wind Sector Deal, it is a non-profit organisation with more than 200 members representing the offshore wind supply chain, industry, academia and the public sector.
