Drift Energy has signed a collaboration agreement with Enapter to adapt the design of Anion Exchange Membrane electrolysers for deployment at sea.
The partnership will support development of the energy storage component of Drift Energy’s technology ecosystem, enabling production of more than 30 energy ships currently on order. The technology will also be applicable to other marine-based projects, including offshore wind, where a mid-sized electrolyser unit could produce green hydrogen offshore.
Enapter, which produces AEM electrolysers for green hydrogen generation, will carry out the main development work at its production facility in Pisa, Italy, while its headquarters are in Germany. The project involves “marinisation,” adapting materials and components for use in the marine environment.
