Enercon has received the International Electrotechnical Commission for Renewable Energy type certificate for its E-175 EP5 E1 turbine. The certification was issued by TÜV Süd. A provisional certificate has also been granted for the E-175 EP5 E2 model.
Both turbine variants feature a rotor diameter of 175 metres, with nominal power ratings of 6.3 MW for the E1 and 7.0 MW for the E2.
Enercon has introduced further optimisations, reporting an increase in annual energy production of up to 2.8% for the E2, depending on site conditions. The company also offers the E2 in a 6.0 MW configuration, along with additional operating modes.
The use of hybrid steel tower technology enables a range of tower configurations for the E2, supporting different hub heights and allowing installation at sites classified as wind class IIA.
