The LR2 tanker Monza, fitted with two 37.5-metre WindWings developed by Bar Technologies, has been delivered to Union Maritime. The vessel was built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in Jiangsu Province and equipped with WindWings manufactured by CMET.
WindWings is a patented three-element rigid wing design developed by Bar Technologies. According to the company, the system can deliver up to 2.5 times more lift than conventional single-element designs without requiring additional energy input. The system is fully automated and adjusts in real time to changing wind conditions to optimise performance.
